It has always been Jose's dream to travel to Mt. Everest. He has hiked thousands of miles in the past 35 years: all over New Mexico, in Northern Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Greece and in the mountains, some as high as 14,000ft.

Jose worked as a caregiver from 1993-2000 at Fort Bayard Medical Center, a long-term care facility in NM and is currently an oxygen tech at the Gila Medical Center. He has found his work with people with all kinds of disabilities rewarding and challenging. He has worked with Gene Rodgers and will be one of his attendants on the Challenge Trek. Jose has served in the military and the national guard. He lives in Silver City, NM with his wife Juanita.
