Mark Gobble Age: 28 Nationality: USA Home Location: Austin, TX Occupation: Teacher - Texas School for the Deaf

Mark has had a lifelong fascination with Everest and the cultures of Nepal and Tibet, and has dreamed of seeing Mt. Everest up close and personal. As a teacher of World History and American History at the Texas School for the Deaf, he frequently teaches a unit on Everest. Trekking to base camp will be a perfect opportunity for him to bring real-life experience into the classroom and “connect” his teaching to his students in the purest sense.

Mark is currently developing a website and an interactive curriculum where schools and programs for the deaf and hard-of-hearing in this country will be able to follow Team Everest, and to study Everest in various disciplines. Mark is really excited about providing online learning opportunities to deaf and hard-of-hearing students about a topic that Mark is passionate about - Mount Everest. Deaf himself, Mark hopes to educate the public about the disability community and to destroy misconceptions about people with disabilities. Mark, his wife Leslie and their dog Yeti reside in Austin, Texas.
