Awards given by the Governor's Committee on People
with Disabilities
CTD / Team Everest '03 is honored to receive the 2002
"Special Contribution by an Organization" Award.
In 1982, the Governor's Committee began its tradition of
recognizing the communicators for accurately and progressively portraying
people with disabilities. At the suggestion of many in the media,
the awards were named for the late Barbara Jordan, one of Texas'
most distinguished citizens and foremost spokespersons for the rights
of all people.
Each year the Committee honors a select group of communicators
in the fields of print, radio, photojournalism, television, advertising,
public relations and other areas increasing public understanding
of both the problems and potentials of individuals with disabilities.
The 2002 Barbara Jordon awards ceremony will be held in San Antonio
on April 24th.
