Austin Mayor Gus Garcia delivers proclamation

Executive Director Dennis Borel was on hand to receive a proclamation
from Mayor Gus Garcia dedicating February 18, 2003 as Promoting
Independence Day in Austin. Over 500 disability advocates from
all over Texas gathered in Austin to engage in public policy discussions,
hold a march and rally at the State Capitol and visit legislators.
Said Garcia:
Individuals, agencies and advocacy groups--working
together--can facilitate independent living for people with disabilities.
