FORT WORTH PHOTOGRAPHER JOINS EVEREST TEAM
Christopher Auger Selected as Team Everest ’03 Expedition
Photographer
AUSTIN, TEXAS September 24, 2002
Christopher Auger has been selected as the official team photographer
for the Spring 2003 Team Everest ‘03 Expedition. Auger, who
grew up in Fort Worth and attended Trinity Valley School, has worked
as a freelance photographer in the USA, Africa, Russia and Europe.
His clients include the Fort Worth Museum of Natural Science and
History, GlobaLearn.com, Interlocken Center for Experiential Learning
and Arun Expeditions.
Team Everest ‘03 spotlights the potential of people with
disabilities and is led by Texas mountaineer Gary Guller, a climber
with only one arm. The event will raise money for the work of the
Coalition of Texans with Disabilities. Guller will lead a team of
individuals with diverse disabilities, including those with hearing-,
sight- and mobility impairments, on the three-week Challenge Trek
to Mt. Everest Base Camp in March 2003 before himself attempting
the summit. Auger will capture the images of this historic event.
“Team Everest ’03 has a powerful message; it models
how society can open the door of opportunity to all people, regardless
of their ability or disability. Auger brings to the team enthusiasm
for the goals of Team Everest ’03 and the ability to professionally
document this amazing feat,” says Guller.
Auger will be training for the upcoming Everest expedition with
Guller this October in Nepal. They plan to make a challenging 4-week
climb in the remote Makalu region of the Himalaya.
“I look forward to photographing this experience in such
an incredible part of the world. But mostly I feel privileged and
proud to be a part of this team. It’s made up of a great group
of people who are taking on this physical challenge to speak to
the world about the power of human ability and determination,”
says Auger.
