Joni co-owns and operates Arun Expeditions, an adventure travel company based in Kathmandu, Nepal with its US office in Austin, Texas. In addition to guiding trips, she manages logistics for the trekking and mountaineering expeditions in the Nepal Himalaya, Tibet, Mongolia and Tanzania.

Prior to Arun Expeditions, Joni worked as a special educator and Speech and Language Pathologist at the Texas School for the Deaf, the University of Texas at Austin and at the American School in Brussels, Belgium, promoting inclusion of children with disabilities in the classroom. On a sabbatical in 1997 she traveled to Nepal, where she served as a volunteer and teacher in Kathmandu. Her life changing experiences while in Nepal and trekking to the base camp of Mt. Everest led her to focus her talents on sharing adventure travel with others.

Joni has co-produced a Team Everest '03 video and a series of video pieces about travel in Nepal, Tibet and the Himalaya. She and husband Gary Guller make their home in Austin.
